Consumption

〔英語笑話〕——  Indignant patron：You advertise to cure consumption ,

                                  don't you?

                Dr. Quack：Yes , sir. I never fail when my instructions

                           are followed .

                Indignant patron：My son took your medicine for a year

                                  and then died .

                Dr. Quack：My instructions were not followed , I told

                           him to take it for two years .

〔意譯成詩〕——  能治肺結核大夫，保証病人能醫好。

                未及一年已嗚乎，因無遵照指示做。

                要治兩年方能保，怎可怪我是糊塗。

　

〔按語〕——  世上有許多庸醫誤人，不怪自己醫術無靈，反說病人過失，

            真是荒天下之大謬也。
